We really love the original Faunascapes but sometimes they seem a bit too colorful to match any interior, so we decided to make a black and white version for a more neutral look. Instead of just pushing the greyscale button in Photoshop we went with the more labor intensive but much more satisfying solution of a pencil drawing which really gives the well known Faunascapes compositions a nice hand-held feeling and adds some soul to the whole desaturation process.
The spellbinding landscape inside the rabbit is a view of Spirit Island in Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada. The island is said to be the scene of a heart breaking story of forbidden love between a boy and a girl from rivaling tribes. They met in secret on spirit island but the girl was forbidden to see her love by her father the chieftain of the tribe. The boy continued to look for the girl each day at noon on the island even after his death so to this day his spirit still haunts the island.
